The 2021–22 BBL Championship XI: Elite List
Season 11 of the Big Bash League (BBL) is over. Even though the competition was popular all over the world, no changes were made to the schedule. At the end of the WBBL, the Perth Scorchers won the championship by beating the Sydney Sixers for a record fourth time.
So, here are the eleven best players in the BBL for the 2021-22 season according to bbl news.
Ben McDermott
Well, BBL 11 was like a dream come true for Ben McDermott. It turned out that the Hobart Hurricanes’ season opener had fun all year long. McDermott won the Player of the Tournament award and the run scoring title.
The 27-year-old played in 13 games and scored 577 runs, giving him an average of 48.08 at the plate. He had an amazing strike rate of 153.87 and hit the most sixes in the competition (29). McDermott’s best BBL season to date was helped a lot by the fact that he scored 100 runs twice.
Matt Short
For the 2011 Big Bash League season, Matt Short’s main goal was to keep the Adelaide Strikers alive. After a tough competition, Short was the player on the blue team with the most points. As a strong hitter, the kid’s strike rate of 155.52 was very good.
In 16 games, the 26-year-old got up to bat 493 times and scored 32.87 runs per game. He has the second-most sixes in the league because of how aggressively he plays (26). From a statistical point of view, his 48-ball 89 against the Hobart storms stands out as his best game.
Jason Sangha
Since BBL 11 was only Jason Sangha’s second T20 tournament, he was still getting used to how things worked. The first time the rookie played for the Sydney Thunder was back in the 2018-2019 season. Jason’s first pitch went wrong, and he ended up scoring just over 100 runs in 10 innings.
The 22-year-old, though, has had time on his side for a while now. In his 12 games, Jason scored 445 runs, which is 49.44 runs per game. He also hit 36 fours because he had a high strike rate (132.05). Sangha may have led the team to great success when Chris Green wasn’t there.
D’Arcy Short
For BBL 11, D’Arcy Short was moved up to bat in the middle spot. Even though he had to take on more responsibilities, the southpaw still had a great season. Also, Short came back to the tournament after missing the first two rounds and scored more than 400 runs right away.
The 31-year-old batted.444 overall with an average of 37 from his 15 games. After what Ben McDermott did, the Hurricanes had a good BBL season because of how reliable Short was in the middle order. Short not only helped with his bat, but he also caught 10 balls and took out 5 batsmen.
Moisés Henriques
Moises Henriques was a force to be reckoned with when he was captain of the Sydney Sixers in the BBL 11 season. Even though his team was a huge favourite to win, the all-star did everything he could to get them to the championship game. Henriques also scored more than 400 runs, which was a first for him in the BBL.
The 34-year-old played in 16 games and scored 440 runs, which is an average of 36.67 runs per game. With a good strike rate of 133, he was able to hit 36 fours. The veteran’s perfect 76 helped Sixers get their best BBL score ever.
Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell had a great BBL 11 because he kept playing well in T20. His 154 not out off 64 balls was the highest score by an individual in the history of the league. Maxwell finished his career with almost 400 runs scored, which was good enough for fourth place in that category.
The 33-year-old played 13 times and had a total of 468 runs (average of 42.55). With a strike rate of over 160, he was fourth in the league (minimum 10 innings). His previous score of 103 against the Sixers came from a strike rate of 180.70, which was very fast.
Mitchell Marsh
Mitchell Marsh is very happy right now because he is getting closer to finding the shortest possible format. The all-arounder won the 2021 World T20 and the BBL 11 within three months of each other. Marsh played in only 10 games for the Perth Scorchers, but he scored more than 300 runs.
Over the course of eight games, the 30-year-old got on base 57.83% of the time and scored 347 runs. Marsh hit 15 sixes and 26 fours, which is a great strike rate of 142.80. He scored a hundred in the decisive game against the Hurricanes, and he did it at a blistering strike rate of 166.67.
Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan’s great season with the Adelaide Strikers wasn’t a surprise. Rashid has taken the most wickets in a single season, giving him the seventh-most in BBL history. Even though the leg-spinner bowled more than 100 dot balls, his economy was only 6.34.
Twenty wickets were taken by the 23-year-old in his 11 games. Rashid was the best in the BBL when it came to economics. Even more impressively, Rashid was one of just four players in BBL 11 to catch a fifer.
Hayden Kerr
Overall, this New South Wales kid had given the Sydney Sixers a new start. Kerr had to give every performance his all because he was so well-known all over the world. The Sixers beat the Perth Scorchers in the championship game because of his perfect 98.
The left-arm pacer’s best quality was that he could bowl quickly, which helped him finish second in BBL 11 for wickets. The 25-year-old made a total of 17 appearances, and he was kicked out of 25 of them. Also, the pacer had a better strike rate than anyone else on the team, with 12 hits for every 10 balls thrown (minimum 10 games).
Andrew Tye
Andrew Tye was often among the wickets in this BBL season as well. The Perth Scorchers won their 11th season because of how consistent he was as a bowler. In the end, the league’s veteran took the third-most wickets and won the prize.
Statistics show that Tye played in 16 games and took 25 wickets at an economy rate of 8.08. His 12.60 strike rate was second best among bowlers who played in at least 10 games. The 35-year-old surprised everyone by getting the highest score at bat, which was 44.
Peter Siddle
The Adelaide Strikers had a rough year, but the captain had his best BBL season to date. Siddle bowled as hard as he could, and he ended up with the most wickets and a five-for. Also, the pacer won his first golden cap in the T20 competition.
